Frugal Christmas Decor

I must confess I’ve had my Christmas decorations up since like Wednesday. Totally had a legitimate excuse because I was having a Christmas gift making party. What’s a Christmas party without Christmas decorations? Also, my friend Sarah had posted over at Becoming a Proverbs 31 Woman that she had put up hers and I told Neil “Sarah put up her decorations that makes it ok for me, right?”  So I just wanted to share with you some of my super frugal decorations and how you don’t need to spend a lot of money to make your house feel Christmasie (not a word but whatever) and cozy.

First up… The Christmas tree. It was brand new and free! Yep seriously free. Neil’s mom went out after Christmas last year and found this pre-lit $300 tree for $30. Crazy right?  Then she generously just gave it to us making it free. So be patient and you might be able to get yourself a really cheap tree. Stay tuned to see how we frugally decorate the tree with maybe $1.

There is 2 things here. First the silver tray I got at a yard sale for $2 and the big beautiful candle vase I got at Kohls for 50% off and had one of their Kohl’s cash so it was really cheap

Yard sale find for $0.50 then I added a mason jar from our wedding.

Believe sign was a Kohls clearance find and my mother-in-law got us the little nativity scene which is hand carved and is fair trade
Last but not least… The village. My grandma separated all of her village last  year and gave it to all her grandchildren. So sweet. I got 3 cute little houses that I love
There ya have it… a few cheap decorations that look beautiful. Like I said earlier stay tuned for super frugal Christmas tree decorating coming at the end of the week.

  1. Looks great! As I was doing a post last year on my Christmas decor I realized it all came from either the thrift store or the clearance section! Ha. Buying secondhand ensures you have a very unique collection of pieces, plus it’s financially and environmentally responsible. I scored a 1950s choir girl from the Salvation Army last year for like $2!! Woohoo!!

  2. Missy- I couldn’t agree more. There’s just something about getting a super good deal on nice stuff that gets me excited. Its nice not to have your house look just like Hobby Lobby but something more unique or different.

Jacinda- Thank you! Stay tuned on Friday that’s when the post should be up. Were decorating it Thanksgiving with international students

  3. I love decorating for a bargain! we got our christmas tree the same way. My MIL bought it at an after christmas sale for a steal and then gave it to us 🙂
