Homemade Mineral Veil (Finishing Powder)

I love love love Mineral Veil! Not going to lie I don’t really ever purchase makeup because my mom sells it and she is sooo kind to buy it for me! For a while I started buying Bare minerals and I love it, but it is really expensive. I stopped using the foundation but was still using the amazing Mineral Veil (still very expensive). Since I am in grad school and really only living on my husbands salary plus a little bit extra from a part time waitressing job it just doesn’t fit into the budget. I got this idea from Beauty Fringe!

The good news is you can make it for super cheap! With things you already have and it works just as well as the real stuff! If you read the ingredients on your Mineral Veil you will find that the main ingredient is cornstarch! Yep seriously!
Bare Minerals costs about $20.00…. Our homemade version $.05

Ingredients

1 1/2 Tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon powder foundation (crushed up finely)

Directions: Mix together and store in an old loose powder container, jar, or tin.
Apply a small amount to a powder brush tapping off any extra. Apply to the face and be amazed! I like to apply a little more to places that are extra oily like my forehead or nose.

Side note: its not going to be a perfect match to your skin and will be much lighter.

Benefits of using this finishing powder
  • Gives you that finished looked
  • Absorbs oil so you won’t get that old sweaty makeup look
  • Minimizes fine lines and pores
  • Lucky for you since your making this you can make it whatever your skin color is for a perfect match!
  • Cheap!
Isn’t that super easy and super frugal? Kind of bummed I have wasted so much money on buying it over the last few years! O well at least I know I will be saving a ton more! Hope you love this as much as I do!

  1. Hi! I was just wondering if you have ever made any mineral blush before. I too use Bare Minerals, but not the foundation, only the blush and the veil. Do you have any ideas or suggestions for making the blush? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    1. Hey Araceli I have never made mineral blush! Im not sure how that could be done. I assume there are some blush colored minerals that you could purchase somewhere online! I wish I could be more helpful!
