How To Make Sweetened Condensed Milk
Learn how to make sweetened condensed milk that is thick, creamy, and sweet.
Perfect for those holiday recipes, this homemade version can be made without refined sugar.
- Milk - Cream - Maple syrup - Vanilla extract - Salt
Measure out the ingredients and add them to a saucepan.
Place on medium-low heat and bring to a simmer. Stirring occasionally until the sugar has dissolved.
Continue simmering, and do not stir, until it has reduced by around half. About 30–40 minutes.
Watch closely to make sure it doesn’t boil over. It is ready when it has thickened and been reduced to half. Or 1.5 cups.
This can be stored in the fridge for up to a week. It will continue to thicken as it cools.
