Creamy eggnog spiced with nutmeg is frothed and paired with espresso or strong coffee to make this delicious coffee drink with nostalgic holiday flavor.
1/2cupeggnoghomemade or store-bought. For a sweeter latte, add 1 cup of eggnog
Additional toppings if desired
Instructions
Make two shots of espresso or 4 oz of strong brewed coffee. I like to use my fresh press to do this.
Steam the eggnog using a steamer or heat in a small saucepan until just warm (stirring occasionally). Be careful not to overheat, as it can cause the eggs to curdle.
Using a hand frother or a blender, blend the eggnog until super bubbly and frothy.
Pour the shot of espresso or coffee into a mug and top with the frothy topping. Pour slowly, to make sure the froth stays on top.
Add any additional toppings if desired.
Enjoy.
Notes
Be careful not to heat the eggnog too high. It can curdle the eggs.
If you do not have a espresso machine, use strong brewed coffee or instant espresso powder.
While it is delicious on it's own, I like to top this recipe with homemade whipped cream and a sprinkle of nutmeg
Make this vegan by using vegan eggnog. Or make it dairy free by using either dairy free milk when making your own eggnog, or purchasing a dairy free version. Trader Joe's has a yummy oatnog.
For some extra protein, I like to add a scoop or two of collagen peptides to my coffee. Mix it up and then pour over the eggnog, or add it to the eggnog.
Customize this recipe. If you like a sweeter more rich latte, add more eggnog. I don't like super sweet coffee drinks, so I just add a 1/2 cup of the nog. If you like it sweeter, add 1 cup.
