Weight Loss Wednesdays: Working Out

My Progress:
New weight:137 +1 lb from last week
Goal weight:117
Total lost: 6lbsYep I gained a pound since last week. But o well what can I do. I was sick and hurt my back last week so I couldn’t work out as much as usual (not that that is an excuse or something). I ate pretty good except for my birthday. I had a large piece of ice cream cake (yummmm), maybe more than once :). What I have learned from the past is not to beat myself up for having a bad week or gaining a pound. Its more about adapting a healthy lifestyle rather than trying to lose a lot of weight fast. I want to lose it slowly so it doesn’t come back. Like it has many times before.

Now to this week’s topic: Working Out!

I must confess I dislike working out very much. You can ask any of my friends and they would probably tell you the same thing! I hate monotonous activity that is boring like treadmills (yuck). I need something fun and exciting to get me wanting to work out. I found that I enjoy something if I don’t have to do it all the time. Switching days up really works for me most of the time. Right now I have been doing Just Dance 3 a lot since it is super fun, makes me really tired, and really sweaty! Another thing I do is youtube work out videos to shake things up (warning some videos on there are very weird you have to pick carefully) or you can find videos at shape.com. Also, I really enjoy walking my baby (Kaia the puppy) its time to relax and clear my head and she is also way more behaved when she goes for a walk so it has to happen very frequently or else she will drive me nuts!

Importance of Working Out

Working out and getting your heart racing is good for you in so many ways. First, it helps burn calories which can help you lose weight or keep it off. Second, can help reduce stress. Third, when you work out your brain releases endorphins which make you feel good. I’ve seriously noticed how much more energy and better I have felt since I have been working out and eating better. My husband makes fun of me because I am always dancing and singing like a fool around the house. Fourth, lifting weights can help build muscle and increases bone density in women, thus decreasing the chances of osteoporosis. Also, weight lifting can be good for your heart and decrease risk for cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure.

Weekly workout schedule:
Monday: Gym: elliptical for 30 min weight lift for 20 min
Tuesday: Walk Kaia & Dance for 30 minutes
Wednesday: Walk Kaia & Dance
Thursday: Dance & weight lift
Friday: Walk Kaia
Saturday: Zumba and maybe walk Kaia
Sunday: Rest

Don’t get stuck in a rut when it comes to working out. Change it up and make it exciting.  It can even be fun!
