Christmas Gift Making Party & Lip Balm Recipe
This year Christmas will be the hardest financially. Since its our first Christmas married and being out on our own. This year, we (by we I mean me) are making some gifts for people in my family and friends to save money. Plus gifts from the heart are always better!
Last month at our soup swap we decided it would be a great idea to have a Christmas Gift Making Party! There was a wide variety of things being made: lip balm, soap (future giveaway alert), cookie mixes in a jar, hot cocoa mix, and scrub (most of these recipes to come). It was so much fun and I love all these wonderful women!
Lip Balm Recipe (originally from Passionate Homemaker)
- 2 Tablespoons beeswax (about 1 oz)
- 2 Tablespoons coconut oil
- 2 Tablespoons shea butter
- 1/4 Teaspoon sweet almond oil (optional, not in original recipe but adds a nice touch)
- essential oil (optional, we made some with sweet orange, spiced apple, and a peppermint blend)
- 12 lip balm containers
- dropper
Directions
- In small crockpot melt beeswax, coconut oil, and shea butter
- Once ingredients are melted add a few drops of essential oil if desired.
- take dropper and fill the lip balm tubes.
- After letting them dry for a minute or two add a few extra drops on top.
- Let cool completely before capping them.

Also, my friend Sarah was not shown. She was taking some of the pictures. She has a great little blog Becoming a Proverbs 31 Woman. Check it out!

This really was a fun time! I love having friends that show me how to do new things like this! 🙂 You inspire me Amy.
I love you Sarah and love spending time with you! Im glad you had fun and we will have to do this again soon! Btw you inspire me too.
This sounds really fun! I’d love to host a part like this with friends, but how did you work out all the details? Did each person bring the items necessary for one craft and ‘teach’ it to others? I know I wouldn’t be able to afford to provide all the materials for everyone.
It was super fun! We started a facebook chat and people shared great recipes and gift ideas. Each person bought their own ingredients for whatever thing they wanted to make. The only thing we shared was the essential oils. I ordered 100 lip balm tubes then we divided them up and split the costs. Not everyone made everything. Some people just watched so they could learn. Its not to hard to plan. I hope you get to and let me know how it goes!!
We will be making lip balm soon once we get bees wax from our bees I am so excited! Thanks for sharing your recipe!
That is awesome. I wish I had bees to get beeswax from! It is so darn expensive. Even on sale its a little pricey!
This is great and I am going to totally try this out for Christmas gifts and troop boxes this year! 😀
I also wanted to let you know that I have linked your page in my blog:

This seems like a great recipe.. I used 8 drops of peppermint essential oil and it smells lovely. but don’t pick up the tubes to fill them…
I didn’t have a dropper, so I used a funnel… big mess. Also, be prepared for a hassle scrubbing the beeswax off the pots.
The recipe is a perfect amount to fill the tubes, unless you drop any. I spilt 2 tubes and don’t have enough to top off… but this is my first time trying anything of this sort.
