Weight Loss Wednesday: Date Night

Its been awhile since I’ve posted a Weight Loss Wednesday. Schools getting crazy and then I got really sick for a few weeks, but it is back and I plan to continue the series!

New weight:132 (I had the stomach flu last week & lost some weight from that so it doesn’t really count)
Goal weight:117
Total lost: 12 lbs

Date night can really put a damper on weight loss goals. You know you go out to dinner where there is almost always an unending basket of bread or salsa and chips, plus the entree that is usually high in fat/calories, and maybe you even polish it off with some dessert. Well date night doesn’t have to be this way. It can be healthy and good for your wallet too. Our date night is always Tuesday’s since that is the only day during the week I don’t have class or something going on (sad isn’t it?). Having date night is extremely important to a relationship to spend time together.

But how can it make you healthier and wealthier?
Plan a date thats fun and includes exercise. For instance, yesterday was a beautiful day here in Southern Illinois almost 80 degrees so instead of going out to dinner and spending money we went for a hike with our doggy then came home and my hubs made some healthy chicken tacos. Not only do we get to have fun and work out, but we also get to spend time together just relaxing.

Other fun date night ideas:

  • Go Hiking
  • Go to the gym and play racquetball. Its a lot of fun and pretty funny.
  • Cook a healthy meal together
  • Go for a bike ride
  • Try paddle boating or canoeing
  • Bowling
  • Go dancing
  • Check out a local zoo, which usually means lots of walking (we’re doing this this weekend!)
  • Try a workout or dance class together
See date night doesn’t have to be expensive and you can burn some calories along the way. What are some of things you do on date night/day?
