How To Make Lavender Lemonade

lemon juice, honey, and dried lavender in a saucepan.

Step 1: In a small saucepan over medium high heat, add in one cup of water and all the dried or fresh lavender flowers. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat and let it infuse for 5 to 10 minutes. Strain the lavender mixture into a large glass using a fine mesh strainer or fine mesh sieve. Press on the lavender buds with a small silicon spatula while straining to get every possible drop.

Tips

  • For the pictures, I sprinkled the glasses with dried lavender. Don’t do this in real life. It’s beautiful but tastes pretty terrible. Garnishing with a fresh lavender sprig will work great!
  • Add more or less lavender to adjust to the liking of your taste buds.

How to serve:

  • Serve this on hot days, on warm days, on cool days, on any day! There is never a wrong time for lemonade, is there?
  • This drink would be especially loved at bridal showers or a baby shower. You could even give it an edge by making a lavender lemonade cocktail. Just add a splash of vodka to individual cups. Don’t forget to use sprigs of lavender and lemon slices for visual appeal.
  • Lavender lemonade will be a hit at your child’s lemonade stand. Make a large batch ahead of time because it will be popular!

Storage

If you, by some miracle, have leftover lemonade that you need to store, simply store it in a mason jar with a lid or other glass bottle with a lid. It will keep for a few days in the fridge.

FAQs

Do I need to have culinary lavender buds to make this recipe?

Culinary lavender might produce a better flavor, but it’s not necessary. You can make this recipe with many varieties of lavender. English lavender, Provence lavender, Spanish lavender, the unknown lavender growing in your garden. Use whatever you have!

Can I make a lavender simple syrup and sweeten a classic lemonade recipe with that?

Of course you can. Combine one cup water, one cup sugar, and your lavender flowers in a small saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves, about five minutes. Then let the lavender infuse with the syrup for at least 20 minutes before straining. Lavender simple syrup is great to have on hand for making lavender lemonade. You should also try making lavender lattes with it! Add it directly to your coffee or sweeten your cold foam with it to put on top!

Can I swap the honey in this recipe for other sweeteners?

You can use honey, maple syrup, or regular sugar in this recipe. They will give slightly different flavors.
